Sherri Lyn DeHaas, of Bennington, Vermont, passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 60.
Born on July 10, 1965, in Queens, New York, Sherri moved to Peru with her family at the age of three. At 15, she moved back to the US, living in Virginia and Miami Florida. She managed a travel agency before attending the University of Miami in 1990. Sherri graduated from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine in 1999 and completed her residency at the Penn State Altoona Family Medicine Residency Program in 2002.
Throughout her distinguished medical career, Dr. DeHaas provided compassionate care to countless patients. She practiced family medicine in Sunbury, Jersey Shore, and Altoona, Pennsylvania, before relocating to Vermont, where she served patients at Village Primary Care. Later, she worked in telemedicine with American Well.
Sherri was known for her kind heart, thoughtful nature, selflessness, and deep love for her family and friends. Outside of medicine, she enjoyed sewing, reading, and hiking with her beloved dog, Fritz. Her warmth, generosity, and dedication to helping others touched the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gail Pittala and her step-mother Rosa Orezzoli. She is survived by her loving husband, Keith DeHaas; her father, Ronnie Orezzoli; her brothers, Ronni, Max, Gino, and Renzo; and her sister, Sharon. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and the many patients whose lives she enriched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Park McCullough House on June 24, 2026, from 11:00-1:00PM.
