Patricia Ann Kelley Sweet

June 13, 1954 — January 21, 2026

Bennington

Patricia Ann Kelley "Patti", 71, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 surrounded by her loving husband, eldest daughter and grandchildren, who had been caring for her during her many years struggle with Alzheimer's. Patti was born on June 13th, 1954 in Bennington, VT. She was second oldest of six children born to Gordon Spencer Sweet Sr. and Edith Lois Blodgett Sweet. Patti graduated with the Class of 1972 from MAUHS, and received her B.S. in Early Music Education from Castleton State College in 1976.

Patti married her beloved husband, William Edward Kelley Jr., on March 8, 1980, and together they shared a lifetime of love and devotion, celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary this past year. Family was always Patti’s greatest pride and joy. She loved her children deeply and made it her life’s work to give them the best life possible, always offering unwavering support, comfort, and guidance whenever they needed her. Her legacy of love and dedication will live on through the smiles, and kind hearts of her children; Casey, Kylene, Dusty, Shawna, and all her grandchildren.

Patti also had a love for music, which was an integral part of her soul. Those that knew and loved her were, at some point or another, touched by her music. You could always find her with a glowing smile when she was surrounded by the sounds of music, like listening to her father play the banjo, or her sister-in-law sing as Sweet Silver Blue preformed, or when she was singing and playing Handbells with Second Congregational Church, playing her flute, putting on Christmas Shows, or Cabaret's With Sweet Praises, or playing in recorder groups like the Dallas Recorder Society and Emerald Valley Recorder Ensemble, and traveling to various schools and retirement homes to play for the children and elderly. Her melodies and the happiness she spread will be remembered always, continuing to echo in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of hearing her music.

Patti’s light touched so many. If you are among those that have seen her bright smile, felt her warm embrace, heard her joyous laugh, or had the honor to have met her, we mourn her passing with you. No services will be held locally. May her smile and music remain forever in your heart.
