Lise E. Knapp, 81, a longtime resident of Bennington, Vermont, passed away on February 28, 2026. Born in Warwick, Quebec, Canada, on October 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Marie (Royer) Beaudoin.
Lise moved to the Bennington area with her family in the 4th grade and was a graduate of Bennington Catholic High School. A lifelong learner, she returned to school in her 40s to earn an associate’s degree from the Community College of Vermont. Lise dedicated 32 years of service to the Southwestern Vermont Supervisory Union as the assistant manager of the Food Service Program before her retirement.
An avid gardener with a deep reverence for nature and animals, Lise was also a steadfast volunteer. She gave her time generously as a Gray Lady for the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and supported the arts and community through her work with the Old Castle Theater and as a hospice volunteer for the VNA.
Above all, Lise’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Christine Carpenter of Shaftsbury, and her son, Steven Knapp of Rupert. She was a proud grandmother to seven and great-grandmother to three. She is also survived by her sister, Pauline Billert, and two brothers, Lionel and Jack Beaudoin, all of Bennington, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
