Joan Lowre LaVigne, 97, of North Bennington, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026.
She was born in Middlebury, Vermont in 1928 to John (Jack) Lowre and Dolores (Shambo) Lowre. Joan attended Middlebury Schools before going to The Scott Carbee School of Art in Boston, where she met her future husband, Bruce LaVigne. Joan was a stay at home mom for many years, Until she became the attendance officer at Mount Anthony union high school. Upon leaving her post there, she worked as personnel Director at Triangle PWC, Stanley Tools and Tansitor Electronics.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband and is survived by her three daughters, Jenny LaVigne (Bernard LaCasse) of Brookline Massachusetts; Deborah Reed of Jackson VT; and Lowre LaCroix (David) of Arlington, VT. She is also survived by six grand children, several cousins, nieces and many friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John’s Church in North Bennington at 11:00 on Saturday, May 23. It will be followed by a luncheon in the church hall.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Francis of Assisi Society for Animals or to a charity of your choice.
