Janet Johnson

Janet Dawn Eggsware Johnson, 82, a lifelong resident of Bennington, VT, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026.

Born and raised in Bennington, she was the 2nd of 11 children of the late Kermit M. Eggsware and Beatrice (Mathers) Eggsware.

Janet graduated from Bennington High School and was the wife of Robert K. Johnson for 52 years until Robert’s (Bob’s) death in 2018. Bob worked at Bijur Lubricating in Bennington as a Machinist while Janet raised their three sons; Robert Jr., Scott (Cindy) & Timothy on Hunt Street. Janet also babysat many children and cared for Bob’s father, Kenneth Johnson. Once her children were grown, Janet worked in Dietary at Southwestern Medical Center. Janet loved boating, animals and her family. In addition to her three sons and daughter-in-law, Janet is survived by her grandchildren Eliza and Will Johnson.

Janet will be laid to rest in the spring with her husband in Bennington Park Lawn Cemetery.
