Eugenie Rounds Rayner

Eugenie R. Rayner, 72, of Bennington, VT, passed away at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington on June 11, 2026. Eugenie was born in New Orleans, LA on January 19, 1954, the daughter of William Alan and Phyllis W. (Cooper) Rayner.

Born in New Orleans, Eugenie then went to Atlanta, GA to Hartford, CT to Rutland, VT before settling down in Bennington in 2012. She was a freelance writer and editor. Her interests were varied and widespread and were far too numerous to list.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Dennis Tash of North Adams, MA, her niece, Elizabeth (Richard Scutt) Boyington of Readsboro, VT, her nephew, James (Madeline) Boyington of Halifax, VT, and her great nephew and great nieces; James, Maggie, Mackenzie and Maisie.

Funeral services for Eugenie will be held on Friday June 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the EP Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington, VT. Father Jeremy Means-Koss will preside. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Church of Our Savior Cemetery 316 Mission Farm Road Killington, VT.
